Rehan1 Spell Burst | Torchlight: Infinite Build Showcase
Summary
- Build Type: An aspirational, end-game “zero-button” build for Berserker Rehan (Anger).
- Core Mechanic: Uses the Hero’s Resourcefulness memory to convert the “Burst” attack into “Burst Blast,” a spell that scales infinitely with skill levels.
- Damage Potential: Capable of 50–60 trillion damage in Deep Space setups, or ~20 trillion in speed-farming/XP setups.
- Playstyle: Uses Auto-channeling Path of Flames to trigger Spell Bursts and automated procs, requiring only movement and looting from the player.
- Key Scaling: Relies on Spell Burst stacks, aura stacking, and massive level scaling (+1 level = 10% more damage multiplicative).
Build Performance and Concept
This is an aspirational build designed for high-end Deep Space farming and reaching level 100. While the damage can exceed 60 trillion, a “profound” setup for leveling typically sits around 20 trillion damage while incorporating Swiftness for movement speed and XP-focused pets.
The build transforms Berserker Rehan’s signature Burst ability. Traditionally an attack, the Hero’s Resourcefulness hero memory converts it into Burst Blast, a spell. This conversion allows the build to utilize spell-specific multipliers and Spell Burst mechanics, which are typically not available to proc-based builds.
Core Mechanics: Burst Blast and Spell Burst
- Infinite Level Scaling: Unlike standard spells that see diminishing returns after level 30, Burst Blast gains a consistent 10% more damage multiplier for every level gained.
- Spell Burst Integration: The build uses a helmet with a specific corruption: “Chance to immediately gain two stacks of Spell Burst charge when using a skill.” By using Path of Flames as a high-frequency channeling skill, Spell Burst stacks are generated and consumed almost instantly.
- Wind Rhythm: This node provides a 25-meter activation radius. This allows the build to “off-screen” enemies, as the Burst Blast triggers on any target within that massive radius, significantly improving clear speed compared to traditional Whirlwind Rehan builds.
Activation and Automation
To achieve a “zero-button” playstyle, the build utilizes the following setup:
- Path of Flames: Supported by Quick Decision for cast speed. Combined with the Auto-channel setting, the player presses the button once at the start of a map and only needs to steer the character.
- Procs: Haunting Abomination (placed in the first skill slot) and Path of Flames act as the primary triggers for Wind Rhythm.
- Spell Burst Generation: Because we generate Spell Burst stacks via skill usage (Path of Flames) rather than natural charge speed, we can bypass cooldown recovery rate (CDR) requirements and focus on cast speed via Searching Inspiration.
Defensive Layers
Current survivability sits at approximately 400k, supported by several key layers:
- Block: Utilizing Vorax gloves with Silent Avow double mods (Wield My Sword and Absolve My Sin) provides significant block ratio and raises the block cap from 60% to 80%.
- Blessing Conversion: Divine Grace converts Tenacity, Agility, and Focus blessings into a flat “4% less damage taken” per blessing. This results in roughly 12% less damage taken and 30% more damage without the need to stack specific blessing effect stats.
- Burning Ice: This ring triggers Frost Shield and Delayed Pain on hit.
- Note: You must corrupt away the “cannot freeze” implicit on the bottom of the ring to allow the build to utilize freeze mechanics for safety.
- Freeze: The build converts damage to Cold, reaching a 100 max frostbite rating to freeze enemies reliably.
Skill Gems and Auras
- Main Damage/Utility:
- Haunting Abomination: Linked with Feud for a 25% more damage empower effect.
- Blizzard: Functions as an empower skill, increasing cold damage taken by enemies by up to 35%.
- Ice Bond: Additional damage scaling.
- Auras: The build stacks four damage auras. In extreme end-game setups, one damage aura can be swapped for Swiftness (speed) or Armor (Deep Space survivability).
- Aura Scaling: Uses Stand As One and Selfishness to massive effect. Cutting a single aura can reduce total damage by two-thirds due to high aura effect investment.
Passive Trees and Slates
- Goddess of Knowledge & Prophet: Focuses on cold damage and frostbite.
- Magister: Crucial for Spell Burst. Inverse Image is used to gain +2 max Spell Burst stacks, allowing the player to skip six points of unnecessary Spell Burst charge speed.
- Ranger: Utilizes Phantasmagoria to boost Sealed Compensation. This setup provides over 100% Sealed Compensation, which doubles as aura effect when using Lone Walker boots.
- Slates:
- Defensiveness Pedigree: Essential for capping block.
- Conversion: Physical to Lightning to Cold conversion is mandatory to ensure all damage auras apply their multipliers correctly.
- AoE: Placing the proc skill in the first slot allows a slate mod to provide 40% increased Area of Effect.
Hero Memories and Pets
- Memories: Focus on Crit Damage and Life. The Hero’s Resourcefulness memory is character-bound and difficult to craft, requiring a one-in-five hit to be viable.
- Pets:
- XP Setup: Full XP pets for leveling to 100.
- Performance Setup: Squiddle (ideally level 6 for +1 Spell Burst) or Dreamweaver for spell damage and cast speed.
