[PoE2 0.5] Day One Build Updates for Spirit Walker Twister
Summary
- League & Endgame Impressions: The campaign remains largely unchanged, though the shifted “Azurite Bog” spirit quest line caused some initial confusion. The new endgame features expansive quest lines for various mechanics, each with its own Atlas; players are encouraged to specialize, as it is possible to fill out the entire Atlas.
- Build Philosophy: The Spirit Walker Twister build is performing exceptionally well, outperforming the Amazon. The focus is on a high-damage “glass cannon” playstyle, though early investment in defenses (evasion/energy shield) is now prioritized after initial testing.
- Key Changes:
- Ascendancy: Moved away from starting with Vivid Stampede; the new recommended path is Primal Bounty, followed by Muka’s Gift, and finally Wild Protector.
- Mechanics: Sniper’s Mark is now hard-cast to improve damage and frenzy charge management.
- New Tech: Integrated Olaroth’s Conviction into Barrage to enable Twister spam and improved Frenzy Charge maintenance. Added Silverthorn Buckler for the powerful damage boost provided by the Parry mechanic during boss openers.
- Crafting: Success relies on profit crafting for body armor and helmets using base items, transmutes, augmentations, and Essences.
Campaign and Endgame Impressions
The campaign experience remains familiar, with minor streamlining and quality-of-life adjustments. The new endgame is substantial, featuring independent Atlases for various mechanics like Abyss, Breach, and Kalguuran content. Players are intended to fill out these Atlases, and while specializing in a few mechanics is viable, the system offers multiple ways to earn points, including running maps or defeating pinnacle bosses. A notable early-game hurdle is the requirement to kill five Delirious bosses to unlock amulets.
Ascendancy and Passive Tree Updates
The Spirit Walker ascendancy for Twister is highly effective. Based on day-one testing, the ascendancy progression has been updated:
- Primal Bounty: Now the initial priority for projectile speed.
- Muka’s Gift: The second pick.
- Wild Protector: Provides damage reduction support.
- Vivid Stampede: Moved to the final slot to unlock Sacred Unity.
The passive tree remains largely stable. Players are advised to prioritize a crit-focused approach before transitioning into evasion and energy shield points, as the latter requires well-rolled gear to be effective.
Gear and Crafting
To fix defensive vulnerabilities experienced in early progression, the build now prioritizes high-evasion, energy-shield body armor and helmets.
- Profit Crafting: Start with a solid base item, use greater transmutes/augmentations, and apply Essences for resists. Use double greater Exalt Slams to finalize prefixes/suffixes.
- Belt Crafting: Hit a resist, slam a second, and use specific desecration/mana modifiers to secure a triple-res belt.
- Upgrade Tech: Use the anvil to upgrade Tangle Tongue, which significantly increases damage and crit chance.
Skill and Support Gem Adjustments
- Barrage: Now utilizes Olaroth’s Conviction to maintain constant Twister repetition and snapshot Frenzy Charges.
- Ice-Tipped Arrows: Used for perma-freezing and raw damage, particularly when paired with Call of the Brotherhood.
- Sniper’s Mark: Must be hard-cast to double the effectiveness of Frenzy Charges and apply shock ground, replacing the reliance on Wake of Destruction for elemental grounds.
- Parry/Silverthorn Buckler: Used specifically during boss openers to force 50% increased damage taken and a significant local crit chance increase.
Miscellaneous
- Act 4 Reward: Select the option for 30% increased evasion and energy shield.
- Loot Filter: An Ultra Strict loot filter is recommended for late-game efficiency.
