PoE 3.28 - MY RAPTURE GAUNTLET PLANS! // Rapture Gauntlet is a community event hosted by Zizaran.

Summary

  • Event Information: The Rapture Gauntlet is a community event hosted by Zizaran starting April 8th, 2026, lasting seven days in Hardcore Solo Self-Found (HC SSF) mode.
  • Build Selection: Champion Explosive Arrow (EA) Ballista focused on direct hit damage rather than damage over time (DoT).
  • Survival Strategy: Prioritize heavy defensive layers including permanent Fortification, Spell Suppression, and high Life regeneration to combat extreme area modifiers.
  • Leveling Approach: Start with Caustic Arrow, transition to Toxic Rain at level 12, and swap to Explosive Arrow Ballista in Act 3.
  • Goals: Complete the campaign for the free Mystery Box and aim for Level 90+ for raffle entries.

The Rapture Gauntlet Overview

The Rapture Gauntlet is a high-difficulty community event. Participation is free, but the environment is significantly more challenging than standard Hardcore. Because it is Solo Self-Found, you cannot trade for upgrades and must rely entirely on what you find or craft.

Realistic Expectations and Difficulty Modifiers

The Gauntlet features brutal area modifiers that apply even during the campaign. These make the early game harder than many end-game maps:

Campaign Part 1 (Acts 1-5):

  • Monsters take 20% less damage.
  • Monsters deal 20% increased damage.
  • Increased monster attack and cast speed.
  • Two additional projectiles for monsters.
  • Monsters have elemental penetration.

Campaign Part 2 (Acts 6-10):

  • Monsters take 30% less damage.
  • Monsters deal 30% increased damage.
  • 30% increased monster attack and cast speed.
  • 100% increased monster Area of Effect (AoE).
  • 30% of physical damage added as extra Chaos damage.

To counter these, it is essential to use Amethyst rings for Chaos resistance and incorporate the Grace aura for evasion as soon as possible.

Rewards and Participation

  • Kill Hillock: Earn a pair of cosmetic gloves that track your Gauntlet progress.
  • Finish Campaign: Receive a “Last of the Druids” Mystery Box.
  • Level Breakpoints: Reaching levels 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 95 enters you into a tombola (raffle) for various prizes.
  • Competitive Prizes: While there are cash prizes for boss kills and racing, these are typically won by veteran Hardcore players. Most players should focus on finishing the campaign and reaching level 80 or 90.

Build Strategy: Direct Hit EA Champion

The chosen build is an Explosive Arrow Ballista Champion with a specific focus on direct hit damage instead of the traditional Ignite/DoT focus.

  • Point Blank: Utilize the Point Blank keystone to maximize damage at close range.
  • Ballista Playstyle: Dropping totems allows you to focus entirely on movement and dodging boss mechanics, which is vital for survival.
  • Defensive Layers:
    • Permanent Fortification (via Champion ascendancy).
    • Adrenaline and healing on low life.
    • Spell Suppression (aiming for “Lucky” suppression).
    • Taunt on hit from totems to redirect enemy aggression.
    • 5% damage taken redirected to totems.
    • High Life, Life Regeneration, and Evasion (Grace aura).

Ascendancy Progression

To minimize risk, do not rush the Labyrinths. Wait until you are overleveled:

  1. First Lab (Fortitude): Complete in mid-Act 4 before fighting Malachai for permanent Fortification.
  2. Second Lab (First to Strike, Last to Fall): Complete in Act 8 before Solaris and Lunaris for Adrenaline and low-life recovery.
  3. Third/Fourth Lab: Delay these until after the campaign is finished to ensure you secure the Mystery Box reward safely.

Leveling and Skills

Follow this progression to navigate the dangerous early acts:

  1. Level 1-12: Use Caustic Arrow.
  2. Level 12+: Swap to Toxic Rain linked with Mirage Archer and Chance to Poison.
  3. Act 3 Transition: Complete the Siosa quest in The Library to obtain the Explosive Arrow Ballista setup.

Early Game Survival Tips

  • Decoy Totem: This is a mandatory skill for Hardcore. Use it to distract mobs and bosses while you deal damage from a distance.
  • Gearing: Use gold to gamble at vendors for better bows. Look for physical damage bases, Rustic Sashes, and Iron Rings early on.
  • Armor/Evasion: Prioritize gear with armor and evasion bases over energy shield to mitigate physical hits.

General Campaign Survival Benchmarks

  • Overleveling: Always stay 2-3 levels above the area level. If a boss feels too dangerous, reset an area and grind more experience before engaging.
  • Resistances: Use the crafting bench in your hideout constantly to keep elemental resistances capped.
  • Chaos Resistance: Start looking for Amethyst rings from vendors as early as Act 5 or 6 to prepare for the Part 2 modifiers.
