PoE 3.28 - Crafting Abyss Socket Boots

Summary

  • Duplicate high-percentile Phantom Boot bases using Split Fossils to reduce the cost of Abyssal Socket attempts.
  • Use Hollow Fossils and Fracturing Orbs to secure a permanent Abyssal Socket on the base.
  • Roll for Tier 1 Spell Suppression and Chance to Avoid Being Shocked to achieve ailment immunity via Stormshroud.
  • Utilize Wild Bristle Matron beastcrafting as a cost-effective alternative to the “Suffixes Cannot Be Changed” bench craft.
  • Use Veiled Chaos Orbs and Eldritch crafting (Annuls/Exalts) to secure high-tier Movement Speed and Life.
  • Apply Eldritch Implicits for Action Speed and Travel Skill Cooldown Recovery.

Base Preparation and Fracturing the Abyss Socket

The goal is to create boots with Spell Suppression and an Abyssal Socket. To do this efficiently, use a high-item-level base (iLvl 86 Phantom Boots with 100% base percentile).

  1. Use a Fractured Fossil (or Split Fossil) to create a split copy of the base. This allows for two attempts at the craft for the price of one base.
  2. Apply a Hollow Fossil to the boots to add the “Has 1 Abyssal Socket” modifier.
  3. Use a Fracturing Orb on the item. The goal is to hit the Abyssal Socket mod to make it permanent.
  4. If the fracture fails, repeat the splitting and Hollow Fossil process.
  5. Successful fractures result in a base that can be sold for significant profit (approximately 12-13 Divine Orbs) or used for the final craft.

Crafting Suffixes: Suppression and Shock Avoidance

Once the Abyssal Socket is fractured, focus on the remaining suffixes.

  1. Roll the boots (using Essence or Reforge) until hitting Tier 1 Spell Suppression. This requires an item level of at least 85.
  2. Ensure the suffixes include Chance to Avoid Being Shocked.
  3. In this specific build, the boots provide 58% Shock Avoidance, which, when combined with other sources (like 48% on another gear piece) and a Stormshroud Jewel, grants full elemental ailment immunity.

Crafting Prefixes: Movement Speed and Life

With suffixes complete, manipulate the prefixes using Eldritch currency and meta-crafting.

  1. Apply Lesser Eldritch Ember (Searing Exarch influence) to the boots so that the Exarch is dominant. This allows the use of Eldritch Orbs of Annulment and Eldritch Exalted Orbs to protect suffixes.
  2. Use a Wild Bristle Matron beast to add the “Suffixes Cannot Be Changed” meta-mod. This is significantly cheaper (approx. 120-130 Chaos) than the 2-Divine bench craft.
  3. Apply a Veiled Chaos Orb.
  4. Before unveiling, go to the Crafting Bench and block Mana to increase the odds of hitting movement speed modifiers.
  5. Unveil for Movement Speed and Onslaught on Kill.
  6. If the unveil or remaining prefix is undesirable, use Eldritch Annuls (while Exarch influence is dominant) to remove prefixes without touching the fractured Abyssal Socket or rolled suffixes.
  7. Slam the item with Exalted Orbs or Eldritch Exalted Orbs to hunt for Tier 1 Life.
  8. Repeat the “Suffixes Cannot Be Changed” and Veiled Chaos process if the prefix pool becomes messy.

Eldritch Implicits and Final Touches

Finalize the boots by rolling the best possible Eldritch Implicits.

  1. Eater of Worlds (Blue): Aim for Action Speed. Use Greater or Grand Ichors.
  2. Searing Exarch (Red): Aim for Increased Cooldown Recovery Rate of Travel Skills.
  3. Use Orbs of Conflict if higher tiers of these implicits are required.
  4. Finish by bench-crafting any remaining desired prefix (such as Evasion/Energy Shield) if a slot is open.

The finished product, featuring an Abyssal Socket, high Life, T1 Suppression, Ailment Immunity, and high Movement Speed, is valued at approximately 25–28 Divine Orbs.
