Character Setup and First Steps

To perform a fresh start on an existing account, create a character in SSF. Use the “League Migrations” option at the top of the character select screen, select “League SSF Migrate,” and then “Migrate All.” This allows for a completely fresh character start.

Create a Huntress and sprint directly to The Miller without stopping to kill trash mobs. Killing The Miller grants Level 2.

  • Gem Pickup: Whirling Slash.
  • The Miller Strategy: Aggro the boss and pull him into the back-left corner of the arena. Fighting him here allows you to roll through the portcullis immediately after the fight, skipping the wait for the gate animation.

Early Progression and Gem Setup

Speak to Ranly, grab your first Uncut Skill Gem, and select Twister. Use a regex in the vendor window to look for a talisman.

  • Talisman Priority: Obtaining any talisman allows the use of Wolf Form, which significantly increases movement speed.
  • Abandoned Stash: Locate this in the first area for a guaranteed skill gem. Select Occult Contagion. This causes Contagion to spread through packs, which is essential for early-game clear speed.

Twister Mechanics and Areagne

Positioning is the most critical factor for Twister damage. You want the tornadoes to bounce against walls to hit the boss multiple times.

  • Areagne Fight: Drag the boss into the small entry room. This cramped space forces the Twisters to bounce more frequently, drastically increasing DPS.
  • Reward: Select Retreat from the Uncut Support Gem reward to link with Twister.

The Red Vale and Rust King

In the Red Vale, look for Refined Arms caches, as they drop higher-tier martial weapons. Aim for an Ironwood Spear.

  • Efficiency Tip: Identify the Obelisk of Rust located in a tight, enclosed arena. Save this obelisk for last so the Rust King spawns there. Use the walls to maximize Twister bounces for a much faster kill.
  • Vendor Check: Look for boots with movement speed and gloves with flat added damage to attacks. If you lack an Iron Head Spear, purchase one from the vendor.

Grim Tangle and Fangs of Frost

  • Una Skip: TP to the Grim Tangle, grab the checkpoint, and TP out. Speak to Una in town, then return to the checkpoint. Summon Una, click her, and immediately run back/forth to skip the root-opening animation.
  • Level 6 Breakpoint: Acquire Fangs of Frost.
  • Combo: Parry an enemy to apply the debuff, then use Fangs of Frost. This creates a cold explosion and chilled ground, which the tornadoes can pick up for extra utility.
  • Support Gems: Use an Uncut Support Gem for Rapid Attacks on Whirling Slash.

Cemetery of the Eternals

The main goals are finding the Mausoleum of the Praetor (Draven) and the Tomb of the Consul (Asynia).

  • Sarcophagus: Provides a guaranteed ring (Lazulite or Iron). An Iron Ring provides useful flat physical damage.
  • Layout Trick: To find Draven, look for a “wheel tile” (a circular architectural feature). There is a high probability that Draven’s arena tile (marked by a ribbed floor pattern) is nearby in a straight line.
  • Draven Strategy: Prevent the flying souls from reaching the boss, as they empower him.
  • Lachlann Skip: Click the gate to his arena and instantly respawn at the checkpoint to skip his introductory dialogue.

Hunting Grounds and Ogham Farmlands

At Level 10, you gain access to the Hunting Spear upgrade and better flasks.

  • Skill Pickup: Grab Pounce for mobility. It can be used to jump over specific terrain gaps, such as the path to Una’s Hut.
  • The Freythorn (King in the Mists): You can refill flasks during the ritual phases by touching the checkpoint. For the boss fight, use the War Banner for extra damage or Wind Dancer for survivability. Pick up a Sapphire Charm to prepare for Geonor.

Ogham Village and The Executioner

  • Renly’s Tools: Locate these to progress.
  • Executioner Strategy: Lead the boss into the narrow corridor at the top of the arena. This creates a “hallway” effect where Twisters cannot escape, melting the boss’s health.
  • Support Gem: Link Ice Bite to Fangs of Frost for better freezing potential.

Ogham Manor and Geonor

Aim for approximately 300 Life and some Cold Resistance (around 20-30%) before fighting Geonor.

  • Manor Layout: Generally, if the first floor stairs go down, the second goes up, and the third goes back down.
  • Geonor Fight: Use the edges of the arena to dodge projectiles. Lure him toward a corner or edge to help concentrate Twister bounces.
  • Multitasking: While Geonor is performing his final death dialogue with Sin, run back to find and kill Candlemass to complete the quest for +20 permanent Life.
