Progression Philosophy

The Tactician ascendancy provides excellent offense that functions well without gear, making it ideal for the early campaign. Transitioning to Witch Hunter is advised only after reaching the second or third laboratory, once sufficient gear has been acquired to support its defensive focus.

To maintain efficiency, respeccing is performed to optimize nodes as they become available. Early nodes prioritize supporting fire for screen-wide coverage, which later swaps into freeze-multiplier mechanics and chain-pinning strategies for boss encounters.

Skill Setup and Mechanical Optimization

  • Eternal Rage: By selecting the appropriate early nodes, you can utilize Eternal Rage without heavy investment, effectively gaining a 30% “more damage” multiplier. This also enables the use of Berserk in a secondary weapon set.
  • Ammunition Management: Key passive nodes provide a 30% chance to not expend ammunition and a 30% chance to make reloads instant. This allows for significantly longer, uninterrupted damage windows.
  • Shard Scavenger: Consuming a freeze state with Fragmentation Rounds procs Shard Scavenger, allowing for continuous fire without needing to reload.
  • Mark Synergy: Using Eternal Mark and Charged Mark ensures that marks are not immediately consumed, maintaining damage bonuses while accelerating the build-up of freeze and shock status effects on bosses.
  • Fragmentation Rounds: Concussive Effect, Elemental Armament, Elemental Focus, Rage Forge.
  • Permafrost: Ice Bite, Elemental Armament, Elemental Focus, Projectile Acceleration.

  3. Execute Fragmentation Rounds or Permafrost.
  4. Once the boss is frozen, the double multiplier from the freeze (Freezing Mark damage + Ice Bite) combined with Shard Scavenger allows for high-damage bursts that bypass the need to reload.

Future Transitions

The ultimate goal is to respec into the Witch Hunter ascendancy. The planned path involves allocating points into “Sorc Ward” for increased survivability and “Explode” for improved clear speed, acknowledging a slight trade-off in single-target damage.
