PoE 1 | 3.28 Mirage - Life Stack RF Ubers Showcase

Summary

  • Demonstration of a Life Stack Righteous Fire (RF) Chieftain’s performance against Path of Exile’s endgame “Uber” bosses.
  • High-level survivability showcase featuring nearly 21,000 Life, 90% maximum resistances, and critical strike immunity.
  • Analysis of the synergy between a massive HP pool, high mitigation, and the Defiance recovery mechanic which converts incoming damage into healing.
  • Comparison of clear speed improvements when utilizing the Malevolence aura and Vaal RF for burst damage.

Uber Shaper Encounter

The character demonstrates extreme tankiness against Uber Shaper. Even with a massive life pool, Shaper’s signature “slam” attack deals negligible damage. Using Vaal RF (Righteous Fire) in the boss’s face does not jeopardize survivability.

During the final phase, the boss appears to have significant Damage Reduction (DR), but the build remains safe. A key interaction is shown where the boss’s beam actually heals the character rather than dealing damage. This occurs because the character’s mitigation is so high that the recovery from the Defiance mechanic outweighs the incoming damage.

Uber Elder and Phase Management

The “Uber Uber Elder” fight (the encounter featuring both Shaper and Elder) is a test of patience due to boss phases.

  • Curses: Bane is used to apply curses, though it does not ignore curse limits. A specific jewel is equipped to allow for dual-cursing.
  • Damage Mitigation: The character easily tanks the “Gaze into the Abyss” and other area-of-effect abilities while waiting for the bosses to phase.

Uber Eater of Worlds and Searing Exarch

  • Eater of Worlds: The kill speed is significantly faster than previous iterations. This improvement is attributed to the inclusion of the Malevolence aura, which provides a substantial boost to Damage over Time (DoT).
  • Searing Exarch: While the character is extremely tanky, certain “one-shot” mechanics (like the Exarch’s ball phase or specific vents) are still avoided as a precaution. Hit-based damage from the boss is easily mitigated, but standing in multiple vents can still cause noticeable health dips.

Cortex and Theoretical Damage Ceiling

During the Cortex (Venarius) encounter, the build demonstrates its bossing potential.

  • Optimizations: Damage could be pushed even higher—potentially reaching the DoT cap—by switching to a Concentrated Effect (Conc Effect) helmet.
  • Vaal RF: Vaal RF is confirmed as a superior burst option compared to available Imbue alternatives for this specific setup.

Deep Dive: Defensive Layers and Defiance

The build’s survivability is not derived from a single source but a combination of several defensive layers:

  1. HP Pool: Nearly 21,000 Life.
  2. Mitigation: 90% Maximum Resistances and Critical Strike damage immunity.
  3. Physical Defense: Four Endurance Charges and physical damage reduction.
  4. Channeling Defense: Infused Channeling support provides additional mitigation while stationary.
  5. The Defiance Mechanic: Defiance (likely via Defiance of Destiny) is most effective when paired with a gargantuan HP pool and high mitigation. Without proper mitigation, the recovery would not be enough to prevent a one-shot at low life. However, with these layers, heavy hits and rapid small hits (like laser beams) are transformed into instant healing.
