Challenge Breakdown
There are eight specific challenges to complete in the “Return of the Ancients” league:
- The Runeseeker: Locate remnants with an increasing number of slots and utilize them to craft items. Seven-slot crafts are particularly difficult, as they involve surviving six waves of enemies.
- The Hunter: Defeat six optional campaign bosses. Two notable targets, Acthie the Final Sting and Nundu the Sandworm, are located in the Kauri Crossing. Finding their arena requires following the dry river bed to its end.
- The Ascendant: Acquire all eight ascendancy points by completing trials. The final points require either defeating Zarak in the fourth level of the Trial of the Secundus (high difficulty) or defeating the Trial Master in the Trial of Chaos (high time investment, requiring multiple runs to acquire three keys).
- The Reliquarian: Identify 50 unique items. Players struggling to find uniques can utilize the abilities of Jardo, the Atlas Master, who specializes in finding them.
- The Artisan: Utilize a variety of crafting items, all of which are obtained through remnant encounters.
- The Cartographer: Allocate all 300 nodes on the Atlas tree. While this can be done by completing all maps in the fortress, it can be expedited by defeating the Arbiter of Divinity. Players must locate keys to his fight in the Atlas citadels—indicated by glowing beams in the fog. Defeating him four times will automatically complete the entire fortress.
- The Vanquisher: Defeat the three pinnacle bosses: Tangmazu, the Bodark, and the Vessel of Culumac. These require completing the quest lines for the Delirium, Ritual, and Abyss leagues, respectively.
- Note: To successfully complete the challenge for the Vessel of Culumac, he must be defeated at full strength. This involves risking the required item during the encounter by returning “The Finger” and securing victory regardless.
