High Budget (1 Mirror+) Chieftan Charlatan Swap | Most Insane Build I've Ever Played
Summary
- Budget: Approximately 1.5 to 2 mirrors for the full setup, though costs fluctuate with the market.
- Core Mechanic: Swapping from Nebulis/Shield to a Golden Charlatan and The Gull helmet to stack every shrine effect in the game, functioning like a “Shrine-based Headhunter.”
- Damage: DPS increases from 142 million to roughly 500 million (a ~3.5x increase) through shrine scaling.
- Snapshotting Tech: Utilizing a bow weapon swap to double Spectre life for massive explosion damage while maintaining the same gem slots to keep the Spectre alive.
- Defensive Layers: Crit immunity via the Owl bloodline ascendancy (requiring empty glove sockets) and high physical-to-fire damage conversion.
The Golden Charlatan Core
The most significant change for the high-budget version is the transition from a Nebulis and shield to the Golden Charlatan. This weapon acts similarly to a Headhunter but for unique enemies, granting random shrine buffs instead of rare monster modifiers. When enough monsters are killed, the character eventually gains every shrine effect simultaneously.
To maximize this, equip The Gull helmet for 90–92% increased shrine effect and increased shrine duration. While this swap loses the ~500% increased fire damage provided by Nebulis, the Acceleration and Echo shrines more than compensate, resulting in a jump to 500 million DPS and extreme movement speed.
Flask Setup and Elemental Scaling
- Movement Speed Flask: Standard for mobility.
- Ruby Flask: Increases fire resistance, which scales with the Enmity amulet to provide more fire penetration.
- Suffix: Aim for Freeze, Shock, and Ignite immunity/reduction. High ignite chance is preferred to help Hinakora ignites proliferate via glove implicits.
- Bismuth Flask: Provides elemental resistances (which convert to fire pen) and boosts explosion damage.
- Cinderswallow Urn (Silver Flask): Grants 10% more damage against ignited enemies and life recovery on kill.
- Progenesis: Essential for massive tankiness and chaos resistance.
Gear and Crafting
Gloves
Fracture the 25% physical damage converted to fire (a Temple mod). Unlike the budget version, do not use the “socketed minion gems” fracture. These gloves should remain empty of gems to utilize the Owl bloodline ascendancy for crit immunity.
Bow Swap (Snapshotting)
To double Blade Vortex damage, use a bow swap to snapshot increased Spectre life.
- Enter the map.
- Swap to the bow.
- Cast Blade Vortex (which snapshots the 2x Spectre life provided by the bow’s support gems).
- Swap back to the Golden Charlatan. Note: The Raise Spectre gem must be in the exact same socket on both the main weapon and the bow to prevent the Spectre from despawning during the swap.
Belt
A Vaal-born Headhunter (specifically with the Geolocator/unique enemy mod) is preferred for map clearing and spotting rares. A Mageblood is a viable alternative if you prefer higher baseline stats over infinite ramping.
Boots
Required stats include +2 to level of all Spectre Gems and 30–35% Movement Speed.
- It is significantly cheaper to craft these (approx. 70–100 divines) than to buy them (approx. 150 divines).
Jewelry
- Ring: Life fracture with Essence of Horror (reflect mod), resistance, and all attributes.
- Enmity Amulet: Target a version with 55% reduced fire resistance (the lowest possible). This is a high-cost upgrade (approx. 200 divines) from the 60% version.
- High-End Amulet: Look for increased Area of Effect, Movement Speed, and Critical Strike Multiplier. While the build isn’t crit-heavy, the Diamond Shrine from the Charlatan provides 100% crit chance, making the multi-stat highly effective for explosions.
Skill Gem Configurations
Main Weapon (Charlatan)
1. Raise Spectre (Must be in the first slot)
2. Flesh and Stone (Level 21)
3. Herald of Ash (Level 21)
4. Haste (Level 21)
5. Enlighten Support
Note: Petrified Blood and Defiance of Destiny are removed in this version in favor of Haste for action speed.
Bow (Weapon Swap)
1. Raise Spectre (Must be in the first slot)
2. Companionship
3. Eclipse (Level 3 is sufficient; Level 4 is 200+ divines for no effective gain in this setup)
4. Empower
5. Minion Life
Body Armor (Blade Vortex)
- Blade Vortex (Imbued with Lifetap)
- Greater Unleash
- Minion Pact
- Elemental Focus
- Cruelty
- Added Fire
Note: Use a level 1 Lifetap imbue to ensure the skill costs life instead of mana without losing quality or level value on other supports.
Utility
- Helmet: Leap Slam + Faster Attacks + Momentum for pre-ramp mobility.
- Automation: Linked to Righteous Fire and Immortal Call. Automation will automatically activate RF at the start of a map.
- Movement: Frostblink.
Gameplay and Map Strategy
This build is capable of running giga-juiced content, including 100% Delirious Breach maps with Risk and Wisps.
- Map Start: Swap to the bow, cast Blade Vortex, and toggle auras. Ensure you are near your Scorpios to trigger the Blade Vortex proc.
- Risk Management: The only dangerous map mods are reduced maximum resistances, less recovery of life/mana, and Searing Exarch runes (which prevent life regeneration). If struggling with these, deactivate Righteous Fire.
- The Ramp: Once the Charlatan triggers Acceleration and Echo shrines, the movement speed becomes extremely high. Use the map overlay to navigate, as the character moves too fast for standard screen viewing.
- Clearing: Hinakora explosions proliferate through the ignite-on-hit mechanics, resulting in multi-screen chains. Map bosses are typically “one-popped” instantly.
- Mirage Persistence: Shrine buffs persist into the Mirage, maintaining clear speed throughout the encounter.
