Grim Pillars Spell Totem Oracle Day 3 Update | Crafting a Wand & Endgame Upgrades | Path of Exile 2

Summary

  • Performance: The Grim Pillars Spell Totem Oracle build continues to excel in end-game encounters, clearing bosses and content with high efficiency.
  • New Tech: Integrated powerful support gems, including “Vorana Siege” for single-target damage and a new interaction with purity auras.
  • Gear Progress: Leveraging “fluxes” to optimize chaos resistance and transitioning toward an Energy Shield-based defensive layer.
  • Crafting: Provided a budget-friendly strategy for crafting +4 wands using essences and deterministic modifiers.
  • Progression: Emphasized the importance of unlocking the Atlas passive tree quickly to accelerate loot drops and character power.

New Support Gems & Skills

  • Vorana Siege: Replaces Increased Area of Effect. It provides 35% increased AoE and 20% more damage against isolated targets (when no allies are nearby), making it an excellent single-target support.
  • Her Declaration: Can be used with Purity auras. When active, it causes enemies within the user’s presence to become intimidated for 4 seconds, resulting in 10% more damage taken and 10% reduced damage dealt by those enemies.
  • Mysticism: Grants 40% increased damage while Energy Shield is full.
  • Frostbomb Setup: Now utilizes Spell Echo, Efficiency, Potent Exposure, and Over Abundance to ramp up exposure stacks more effectively.

Gear & Defensive Strategy

  • Chaos Resistance: Used “fluxes” to transform existing fire, cold, or lightning resistance modifiers into equivalent chaos resistance. This is recommended to reach chaos resistance caps efficiently.
  • Rarity: Prioritizing rarity on gear prefixes/suffixes now that Atlas progression is well underway to maximize item drops.
  • Future Transition: Actively transitioning into an Energy Shield-based build, aiming for approximately 8,000 Energy Shield with high recovery.
  • Charms:
    • Ball of the Axis: Grants Onslaught and partial slow immunity.
    • Nascent Hope: Triggers Energy Shield recharge when frozen (the most critical time for recovery).

Jewel & Passive Tree Optimization

  • Priorities: When choosing jewels, focus on:
    1. Crit damage bonus
    2. Crit damage spell bonus
    3. Maximum Energy Shield
  • Splitting Ground: Currently utilized to boost Unearth coverage, increasing the chance to spawn additional fissures.

Wand Crafting Guide (Budget)

To craft a viable wand, follow these steps:

  1. Base: Start with a wand that has +4 Cold Spells and 70% spell damage.
  2. Essences: Use an essence to turn the magic item into a rare with either Cast Speed or Critical Hit Chance.
  3. Crafting Bench: Use the bench to add a guaranteed modifier (the counterpart of what you used the essence for).
  4. Exaltation: Use Greater Exalt (or an Omen of Greater Exaltation to save resources) to add an additional modifier.
  5. Abyss Socket: Use a Preserved Jawbone to add a socket, then use the Abyss to attempt to roll a desired prefix (e.g., extra cold/lightning/fire damage or spell damage).
  6. Alloys (Advanced): Future upgrades may involve using Alloys, which replace essences and allow for significantly higher Cast Speed and elemental damage rolls, though these cannot be used if a crafted modifier is already present.

Atlas Progression Tips

  • Passive Tree: Prioritize unlocking Atlas points immediately to increase base loot drops, which creates a positive feedback loop of power.
  • Towers: Do not ignore towers on the map; they are not cosmetic. Running them reveals hidden areas on the side of the map and provides access to citadels that drop critical fragments.
  • Unlocking Strategy: Upon killing a boss, you can unlock specific segments of the Atlas. Use the Main Origin Tower to path directly to other towers (such as the Precursor Tower) without having to traverse the entire board.
