Build Philosophy and Core Concept

The primary goal of this build is to “abuse” the Minion Pact mechanic. While most builds use Minion Pact to achieve astronomical DPS, this version uses it to secure a solid damage baseline. By outsourcing damage to Minion Pact, the rest of the gear and passive tree can be dedicated almost entirely to defensive statistics without sacrificing clear speed.

The build utilizes a high-HP spectre—specifically the Unholy Aberration (the Act 9 boss)—to provide the life pool required for Minion Pact’s scaling.

Defensive Layers and the Impenetrable Shrine

The character is a Trickster, which provides a strong foundation for Energy Shield and Evasion. However, several mechanics are layered to reach extreme tankiness:

  1. Iron Reflexes & Armor Scaling: Evasion is converted into Armor. Through the use of a shrine belt providing the “Impenetrable” shrine effect, the build reaches nearly 150,000 Armor.
  2. Double-Dipping Mechanics: The Impenetrable shrine adds ES, Evasion, and Armor separately. Because Evasion is increased before being converted to Armor, and Armor is then increased again by the same shrine effect, the flat values are effectively scaled twice.
  3. Aegis Aurora Interaction: With high armor and maximum block, Aegis Aurora recovers approximately 3,000 ES on every block.
  4. Immunities:
    • 95% Critical Strike damage reduction.
    • Immunity to Stuns and Elemental Ailments.
    • Reflect immunity (granted by a specific modifier on the shield).
  5. Maximum Resistances: Capped at 90% all resistances, further scaling damage via Nebulis.

Offensive Scaling and Utility

The build converts Blade Vortex’s physical damage to elemental to take advantage of Nebulis and Trinity Support.

  • Trinity Balance: To ensure Trinity Support stays active, fire and lightning damage must be balanced perfectly. This is achieved by using:
    1. Level 1 Added Fire Damage (25% Physical as Fire).
    2. Level 16 Physical to Lightning Support (exactly 25% Physical as Lightning).
  • Clear Speed: Clear is enhanced by the Gloom Shrine, which provides explosive “pops” upon killing enemies. The Gull mask is used to boost shrine effects, though a Blunderbore is omitted in favor of a +2 Minion Gems chest piece to support the spectre’s health.

The Snapshotting Gimmick

Minion Pact functions via a snapshotting mechanic with Blade Vortex.

  1. Enter the map and cast Blade Vortex.
  2. The initial cast “kills” the minion to calculate the damage bonus.
  3. As long as Blade Vortex stacks do not drop to zero, the high-damage snapshot from the high-HP spectre is maintained for the entire map.
  4. If stacks hit zero, the player must re-summon the minion (often requiring zoning out and back in) to reset the snapshot.

Gameplay Performance and Limitations

While the character is nearly “unstoppable” in standard juiced mapping and breaches, it is not specifically min-maxed for ultra-hard content like “Valdo’s Maps” or quad-ghosted Feared encounters. Those specialized builds often sacrifice movement speed and Area of Effect (AoE), whereas this Trickster maintains high mobility and decent screen-clear.

One minor drawback is the audio clipping caused by the Gloom Shrine “pops” when density is high. Additionally, the build requires consistent casting (at least once every six seconds) to maintain the damage snapshot.
