CRAFTING MY ELEVATED EXPLODE + RARITY TWILIGHT REGALIA - Path of Exile 1
Summary
- Base Selection: High-level crafting requires iLvl 85+ (ideally 86) bases to hit top-tier influenced mods like “Explode” and “Socketed Attacks.”
- Cost Management: Using “Triple Splits” on expensive 30% quality Twilight Regalia bases can provide multiple attempts, though 50/50 gambles carry significant financial risk.
- Mod Isolation: The process involves isolating the “Explode” mod via physical reforging and careful annulling, then imprinting the base to protect progress.
- Seed Checking: In certain league environments (like Mirage), different item bases may yield different results for the same crafting operation, allowing for “previewing” outcomes.
- Finalizing: Once the core prefixes (like double T1 Energy Shield) are hit, the chest is finished with Divine Orbs and potentially Tailoring Orbs for defensive enchantments.
Market Assessment and Base Selection
The goal is to craft a Twilight Regalia with elevated “Explode” and rarity mods to provide a high-end option for the Mirage league. Currently, trade prices for double-influenced donor chests are roughly 10–15 divines. Because an Orb of Dominance costs approximately five divines, it is often more cost-effective to elevate the mods manually if the base is hit easily.
Initial attempts using an iLvl 80 base were unsuccessful because top-tier influenced mods require iLvl 85+. For a high-end chest, a 30% quality iLvl 86 Twilight Regalia is the standard. These bases are currently very expensive, with non-split versions reaching 87–250 divines.
The High-Stakes Splitting Gamble
To maximize the value of an 87-divine base, a “Triple Split” is used to create multiple copies. However, this is a 50/50 gamble:
- The split may fail to retain the desired base properties or quality.
- In this specific session, three consecutive 50/50 split gambles were lost, resulting in a loss of approximately 160 divines.
- After these losses, a cheaper 29-divine split base was used to continue the project.
Influencing and Mod Isolation
The crafting process involves managing “Strands,” a resource used in this league’s specific crafting mechanics.
- Influence: Add Elder influence using an Elder Exalted Orb. Ideally, this should hit a T1 mod to consume zero Strands.
- Explode Mod: Use a “Reforge Physical” harvest craft to target the “Enemies you Kill Explode” mod.
- Isolation: Use Orbs of Annulment to remove unwanted mods. If the Explode mod is removed, the process must be restarted from an imprint.
- Elevation: Once the Explode mod and another influenced mod are present, use an Orb of Dominance. This has a 50/50 chance to “Elevate” the Explode mod to its higher tier while removing the other influenced mod.
Seed Checking and Outcome Optimization
In this environment, it is possible to “preview” results across different bases to see if the crafting “seed” is favorable.
- By locking a base and checking the result of a crafting step, you can see if the outcome yields high-tier mods like T1 Intelligence or T1 Life.
- It was discovered that each base has a unique seed. This allows for rotating through different “donor” bases (e.g., spell crit bases, socketed attack bases) until an insane outcome is found.
- The target for a personal upgrade is double T1 Energy Shield (ES) prefixes and a T1 resistance suffix.
Finalizing the Chest
After cycling through multiple seeds, a base was found that yielded double T1 Energy Shield with 66 Strands remaining.
- The Slam: Instead of using a Hinekora’s Lock (which costs nearly 100 divines), a standard “slam” or reforge was used.
- Results: The chest hit T1 Resistance and T1 Life. While the Intelligence mod was lost, resistance is more valuable for the current build.
- Divine/Sacred Orbs: Use Sacred Orbs to maximize the base Energy Shield value. A base ES of 302 was achieved.
- Tailoring Orbs: The final consideration is using Tailoring Orbs to hit the “15% Increased Defense Modifiers” enchantment. Due to the high cost of Tailoring Orbs and the risk of “flippers” inflating prices, this step is handled with caution to avoid overpaying.
